Conceding that some questions asked in English subject at the recently held HSSLC examination is out of context of the guidelines prescribed by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (COHSEM), a council official said appropriate measures to ensure academic career of the candidates is not compromised would be initiated.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, a top Council official preferring anonymity, said the error had already been deliberated at an examination Committee meeting wherein it was decided to adopt a specific step/measures ahead of declaration of the examination results.
Even though the official declined to share details of the said measures, he affirmed that under no circumstance would the Council compromise academic careers of the students.
It has also been informed that like in the past head examiners have been nominated for minute subject-wise analysis apart from the Council authorities instructing these head examiners for close scrutiny of whether out of context or irrelevant questions were posed to the candidates.
Explaining that to err is human and that even in UPSC examinations flaws creep in, the Council official opined that as the 205 National Curricular Frame was implemented in the HSSLC 2010 examination there would certainly be rooms for improvement in question setting and others.
While stating that the Council would strive to ensure flaw-free examinations with immediate effect, the official confided that inspite of the Supreme Court directive to declare class XII examination results throughout the nation within June 10 the COHSEM has set target for announcing the result next month itself.
he further informed that 80 percent of checking answer scripts could be completed till date with the remaining task being the evaluation procedure.
It is said that 5304 candidates appeared in Arts stream in the council-conducted examination, with Science stream commanding 13,126 candidates and Commerce stream appeared by 635 candidates.
