Imphal, March 06 2024: An intense wildfire broke out at Heibok Ching yesterday around dusk.

Owing to the windy weather, the fire spread swiftly making it difficult for the locals to contain it, said a press release issued by Sh Romio, assistant secretary, Narankonjin Sports' Club.

Volunteers of Arambai Tenggol arrived at the scene and extended their assistance in trying to douse the fire.

Officials of the Forest Department and Fire Services also reached the spot and successfully doused the flames.

They also made sure that the fire would not revive.

In this connection, Narankonjin Sports' Club and Heibok Nupi Samaj Kanba Lup, Narankonjin Makha Leikai have extended their gratitude to all concerned who helped contain and douse the wildfire at Heibok Ching yesterday.

In addition, Kiranjit Yumnam, Range Officer (Sadar), West Range; Maibam Shekherjit, Beat Officer, Iroishemba and S Sanajaoba Singh, FG, Hiyangthang from the Forest Department conducted an awareness programme at Narankonjin at 9 am today educating the people about precautions to be taken to prevent wildfires.
