Outreach programme on SVEEP conducted

A one-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was organised at Biramangol College, Sawombung, Imphal East district today.
The ICOP was organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office, Imphal under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, said a release.
It was attended by Dr O Premila Chanu, Principal, Biramangol College; L Rita, Assistant Commissioner to DC, Imphal East; Dr Ch Ghanajit and Dr N Meerabai Devi, Vice Principals of the college; Thokchom Anthony of CBC, RO, Imphal and Pebam Paikhomba, Election Supervisor at DC, Imphal East as presidium members.
At the event, Pebam Paikhomba demonstrated the three components of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) including the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) to the first time voters.
He also enlightened the gathering on how to register as a voter, forms used in correction and deletion of names.
A demonstration on how to use the EVM with the first time voters was also done.
An on-the-spot quiz contest was also held and mementoes along with certificates were handed over to the winners.
Certificate of participation was also distributed to the first time voters.
Election Supervisor, DC Imphal East also distributed T-Shirts and caps to quiz winners and the audience.
Private registered troupe of CBC, RO, Imphal namely M/s Kangjabi Meitei Chanu Artistes cum Drama Association, Khurai presented a theme based drama called "Mihut Khanba".
Dr Laishram Landhoni, NSS Unit 2 Programme Officer of Biramangol College also attended the programme along with
NSS volunteers.
