Bpr/Tbl, August 12 2023: Retired IAS Officer, Oinam Nabakishore expressed that it will be injustice to the victim of the horrific incident of Churachandpur gangrape if the Prime Minister and Supreme Court fail to take up immediate measures to book the culprits involved and award stringent punishment.

He made the above statement while extending relief and essential materials to the inmates of the relief camp opened at Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong.

The relief materials were provided from the contributions made by the 1984 Batch IAS Officers.

Lauding the courage of the gangrape victim who stood up to file a complaint, Nabakishore urged all authorities concerned to take up speedy measures to deliver justice to the victim.

Meanwhile, a sit-in protest was staged at Thanga Chingkha today organised by Thanga Chingkha Meira paibi Lup demanding stringent punishments to the perpetrators involved in the barbaric gangrape of a Meitei woman at Churachandpur.

Voicing the same demand, a protest demonstration was held at Sendra Chingkhong jointly organised by Sendra Apunba Nupi Meira Paibi Lup and Sendra Youth Club.

The protestors used placards which read, 'Provide stringent punishment to the rapists', 'Go Back Foreigner Kukis', 'Implement NRC in Manipur', 'Go Back Assam Rifles' etc.

Meira Paibis of Kairembikhok Mamang Leikai Ima Keithel staged a sit-in protest today condemning the brutal act of outraging the modesty of a Meitei woman by a group of Kuki men in Churachandpur on May 3, the day when communal strife erupted in the State.

The protestors demanded the case should be handed over to CBI and urged the Government to ramp up measures to book the culprits.

Further the protestors asserted that intense agitation will be carried out until and unless justice is delivered.

A similar protest was also carried out at Heirok today organised by the Youth Development Organisation and Heirok Part II Maning Leikai Meira Paibi.

Slogans demanding justice for the rape victim were chanted by the protestors.

The protestors further questioned the indifference attitude of the Chief Minister and Ministers of the State towards this gruesome incident where a Meitei woman was raped by Kuki men while she was trying to flee for her life along with her son when violence and arson broke out.
