Locals demand permanent IRB Post at Pallel

The locals of Pallel urged the Central and State Government to station a permanent IRB Post at Pallel in view of the prevailing fear among the locals aftermath the incident on September 8 where the Assam Rifles used excessive forces and fired live rounds towards the civilians.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held today at Pallel Khongnang Achouba Makhong organised by United Committee Pallel, a Meira Paibi Takhellambam Shanta recalled the harrowing experience of September 8 .
Highlighting that the people of Pallel are living under the constant fear of being attacked by the Kukis and the atrocities of the Central forces, she appealed to all concerned to station a permanent IRB Post at Pallel at the earliest to protect the people of Pallel.
She also demanded the removal of Buffer Zones of Assam Rifles from Bijoipur and Laimanai Chingjin.
Speaking at the occasion, United Committee Pallel Convenor, Moirangthem Jiban said that the people of Pallel are facing immense hardships and are living in a state of anxiety and fear ever since the tragic incident of September 8 .
He expressed dismay that the Government nor any of the elected members have come to check upon the condition of the people though four days have already passed.
Considering the plights of the people of Pallel, he urged the Government to address their grievances and bring a resolution.
He also demanded a judicial inquiry against the Assam Rifles in connection with the incident at Palled and removal of Assam Rifles from Manipur.
He also called upon the people of Manipur to extend best possible support to the people of Pallel amid these trying times.
It may be noted that on September 8, the Assam Rifles used excessive forces and even fired live rounds in the name of dispersing an enraged crowd demanding removal of Assam Rifles barricade at Unapal Lamkhai of Leimangai Chingjin.
The unfortunate incident led to the death of two individuals and left many injured.
Condemnations continue to pour in from all spheres against the gruesome Pallel incident.
