Skill development training programme begins

A 6-days Skill Development Training Programme on "Processing and Quality Control in Food Industries" was inaugurated today at NEC Model Farm, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal.
The training programme was organised by College of Food Technology, CAU, Lamphelpat, Imphal under the sponsorship of Directorate of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur, said a release.
The inaugural event was graced by Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor, CAU Imphal and K Debadutta Sharma, Additional Director, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur as presidium members.
Prof Ng Iboyaima Singh, Dean, College of Food Technology, CAU Imphal, presided over the inaugural programme which was attended by 40 entrepreneur trainees from different parts of the State.
Speaking on the occasion, K Debadutta Sharma stressed on the need to focus more on the production of quality processed products so that they are accepted at the national and international markets.
He also mentioned about the various schemes and initiatives of the State Government to encourage the local entrepreneurs towards achieving the quality goals.
As part of the programme, a "Food Processing Pilot Plant" established by the College of Food Technology, CAU, Imphal having a large number of processing equipment was also inaugurated by the dignitaries.
A booklet entitled, "Laboratory Manual for Proximate Analysis of Food" written by Dr Angam Raleng, Assistant Professor cum Laboratory In-charge, College of Food Technology, CAU Imphal was also released on the occasion.
