Skill training prog begins, workshop on 'Khongjom Parva' ends

Under the sponsorship of Directorate of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, College of Food Technology, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Lamphelpat launched a six-day skill development training programme on "Processing and Quality Control in Food Industries" at NEC model farm, CAU on Monday.
The inaugural programme was attended by CAU VC Dr Anupam Mishra as chief guest, Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation additional director K Debadutta Sharma as.
guest of honour and College of Food Technology, CAU dean Prof Ng Iboyaima Singh as president.
In all, 40 entrepreneur trainees from different parts of the state are taking part in the skill training programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Debadutta Sharma stressed on the need to focus more on the production of quality processed products acceptable in the national and international markets.
He also mentioned about the various schemes and initiatives of the state government to encourage the local entrepreneurs towards achieving the quality goals.
In his address, Dr Anupam Mishra appreciated the efforts of the local entrepreneurs who have come up with a wide variety of processed products and their aim at achieving higher quality aspects.
He emphasised that the College of Food Technology should strive to enable more technology transfer and extend support to the entrepreneurs.
As part of the programme, a "Food Processing Pilot Plant" established by the College of Food Technology having a large number of processing equipment was also inaugurated by the dignitaries.
The pilot plant will cater to the food processing equipment requirements of the local entrepreneurs at nominal price.
A booklet entitled "Laboratory Manual for Proximate Analysis of Food" written by College of Food Technology assistant professor cum laboratory in-charge Dr Angam Raleng was also released on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a 30-day Workshop cum Production on 'Khongjom Parva' organised by Kanglei She-ishaklon Shindamshang (KSS) at Keishamthong Maning Longjam Leikai under the sponsorship of Department of Art & Culture Chief Ministergi Artistes-inggi Tengbang (CMAT) concluded on Sunday.
In a release, KSS, Imphal East secretary S Gaganchandra Singh informed that the valedictory function was attended by SSBD Government Music College former principal & Manipur State Kala Akademi awardee Laimayum Devendrajit Sharma; Manipur University of Culture guest faculty & KSS founder president Khumanthem Sundari Devi and PWD retired assistant engineer Maisnam Padma Devi as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
During the function, 60 artistes who participated in the workshop performed 'Khongjom Parva' followed by presentation of certificates.
