Imphal, September 11 2023:
Maintaining that political dialogue with the government seems the only way forward to save the Meitei community and to gain freedom, Indigenous People's Organisation Manipur (IPOM) has urged the insurgent groups demanding liberation of Manipur to have political dialogue and initiate talks.
Speaking at the one-day discussion on the prevailing restive situation in the state organised by IPOM and Apunba Naharol Association, Heibongpokpi at Heibongpokpi High School hall on Monday, IPOM vice president Chandramani Khumancha asserted that now we are clear as to who are enemies are.
On one hand, the Kukis are attacking the Meitei community and carrying out various forms of atrocities while on the other hand the central forces who the Meiteis believed would come to their (Meiteis) rescue and protect them are turning against the Meiteis and killing innocent people.
The Pallel incident where two Meiteis Were killed and hundreds injured was a clear indication of the fact that the central forces are trying to wipe out the Meiteis.
Chandramani further informed that if the central forces continue to attack and kill the Meiteis, it is feared that the Meitei community will eventually disappear from the surface of the Earth.
Therefore, to save the Meiteis from getting extinct, the insurgent groups who are demanding liberation of Manipur should have a political dialogue.
This step seems to be the only means to save Meitei community and to liberate Manipur.
