Noney, September 11 2023:
Charuangc Rigaan (CR), a Rongmei body; has vehemently condemned the recurring instances of indiscriminate firing with use of sophisticated weapons by Kuki volunteers and KNF (Z), who are stationed in and around Laojengtiang (Joujangtek), an area which is unquestionably a part of Rongmei Naga ancestral land.
While asking the perpetrators to cease all hostilities in the said area, a statement issued by the CR said that the latest incident of indiscriminate firing on Sunday was for the seventh time targeting the Rongmei village.
This alarming pattern is not only highly censured but also viewed as a provocative act, warranting a robust response, the Rongmei body cautioned.
Further stating that such repeated acts of violence on Majuron (Zuruan)-2 Rongmei village have exceeded all reasonable limits and are now considered an open invitation to engage in the ongoing crisis, CR maintained that though the Rongmei community acknowledges the sentiments of all communities during these challenging times, it cannot stand idly but will definitely respond befittingly if confronted by any external forces.
CR has diligently monitored the situation on a daily basis along Old Cachar Road and NH-37, with the primary objective of restoring peace and ensuring uninterrupted flow of essential goods and services in the best interest of the state.
Therefore, this statement serves as a final warning to Kuki volunteers and KNF (Z) based in Laojengtiang (Joujangtek) and to refrain from encroaching upon Rongmei Naga village territory.
We urge these groups to exercise restraint and confine their activities within their existing settlement area," the CR statement added.
