Kuki IRB trainees attack fellow trainees

Some Meitei and Meitei Pangal IRB trainees who are undergoing basic training at Assam were assaulted by Kuki candidates, today, following which a brawl broke out.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh has dialled his Assam counterpart over the development and the latter has assured to look into the matter.
According to sources, the training in Assam is underway at four centres and the centre where the assault took place is called BTC.
The source continued that four-five persons including a Meitei Pangal got injured in the assault.
Reportedly, many of the Kuki trainees were found abandoning their centres ahead of the incident.
It is said that the injured were assaulted using sharp objects.
Over 2000 new recruits are undergoing training at Assam of which the number of Kuki trainees is about 269 .
A video of one injured Meitei trainee narrating how he was smacked from behind by the Kuki trainees has also been circulated widely on social media.
The trainees were air-lifted for training in Assam on January 15 as travelling on the surface route was unsafe for the Meitei candidates.
