State Level Boxing Championships : Shitaljit Athokpam wins elite men's 80 kg category title

Imphal, February 25 2023:
Shitaljit Athokpam clinched the elite men's 80 kg category title in the ongoing State Level Boxing Championships at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
Thoubal's Shitaljit outshone his Bishnupur rival Oinam Abhinash and the referee had to stop the contest in Shitaljit's favour in the final bout today.
In the elite men's 51 kg category bout Chinglemba of Bishnupur won by 5-0 unanimous decision against Loktongbam Loyangamba of IW while Thoubal's Laishram Bilotson won 54 kg category title in the same fashion against M Nganthoiba of IW.
Jackson Pukhrambam of IW in the meantime picked up the 57 kg category gold with a unanimous 5-0 win over Kangpokpi's Boychard Baite as Churachandpur's Chungneireng M Kom sealed the 60 kg title with a similar easy win over Laishram Bakim of Thoubal.
In the 63.5 kg category final bout, Thangjam Leninson of IW overwhelmed Thokchom Hemlet of Bpr 5-0 as IE's L Chandrabose prevailed 5-0 over Bpr's L Jamson for the 67 kg category title and Kangpokpi's Sana Mate sealed the 71 kg category title with a similar win over Sapam Arnold of IE.
Sub-Junior Boys
Ukhrul's Ngathingshang Valui fetched the title of the sub-junor boys 61 kg category title with a 3-2 split decision win over Kh Jeckson of Kakching.
IW's Jasobanta Yengkhom was able to seal the 37 kg category gold with a 4-1 win over E Diamond of Kakching while his compatriot L Uningba won the 40 kg category title with a RSC (referee stops contest) victory over Sukham Hemba of IE.
The day also saw Pritam Amom of Bpr win the 43 kg title with a unanimous 5-0 win over Thoubal's Ksh Alexander; Kharibam Leishemba win the 46 kg title with a 3-2 split decision win over Ukhrul's Gershom Awungshi; IE's Ningthoujam Akaba secure 4-1 win over N Pradeshi of Thoubal for the 49 kg title; Khangchrekpam Mangal of IW secure unanimous 5-0 win over Bpr's Th Wanglen for 52 kg title; Salam Diamond of IW win the 55 kg title with an RSC victory over IE's Kh Lanchenba and Khaidem Lanchenba of Kakching secured an RSC victory over Ksh Priyojit for the 58 kg title.
Master Girls
Lumjainliu Kamei of Noney won the master girls' 33 kg category gold today with a unanimous 5-0 win over Kakching's Moirangthem Ridhi as Khumukcham Anamika of IE sealed a similar win over Kakching's Yumnam Lamnganbi for the 37 kg crown.
Nganggom Tarubi of IE secured an RSC win over Thoubal's Moirangthem Tarubi for the 40 kg title before IE's Sarangthem Linthoi Chanu prevailed 5-0 over Thoubal's Thokchom Priya in the 46 kg category final bout.
Sub-Junior Girls
Four final bouts of the sub-junior categories were also decided today with three securing titles via unanimous decision and one in RSC victory.
Radhamani Longjam sealed the RSC victory against Waikhom Valentina Chanu for the 52 kg title as Moirangthem Khrismira of IW beat Taniya Laishram of IE, Khaidem Manganthoi of Kakching beat Thongbam Phabisana and IE's Irengbam Somiya beat Ukhrul's Singsa W Shimray, all via 5-0 unanimous decision respectively for the 43 kg, 46 kg and 49 kg category titles.
At the end of the day, Imphal West stood tall with as many as 8 gold and 2 silver medals in the event (2nd Master Boys and Girls, 12th Sub-Junior boys and 11th Sub-Junior Girls, 34th Elite Men and 21st Elite Women) which began on February 22 as Imphal East boxers are following close with 6 gold and 5 silver medals.
