Ukhrul, February 25 2023:
Monitoring Committee on Road Construction in Tangkhul Areas (MCORTA), which was constituted by Tangkhul frontal organisations, has appealed to all stakeholders to extend fullest support and cooperation towards ensuring early completion of the ongoing Yaingangpokpi- Finch Comer section of the NH-202 along the Imphal-Ukhrul route.
In a statement, MCORTA convenor RS Jollyson and secretary Ramreichan Keishing informed that through the intervention of the committee most of the complaints from various parties involved in the construction work have been resolved amicably.
"Having resolved grievances from various angles confronting the ongoing works, we are happy to see the progress after a long gap.
And we express our appreciation to all concerned for their cooperation and contributions thus far," they said and appealed to all the stakeholders to extend fullest support and cooperation to ensure early completion of the road.
They also encouraged the aggrieved parties to direct ly approach the committee for any issues relating to the ongoing construction of NH 202 before taking up any un -toward actions.
According to MCORTA, it has relentlessly given voluntary services for expedition of developmental works, particularly the two-lane expansion Yaingangpokpi-Finch Comer section of the NH 202 .
In the process, it was found out that, there were serious lapses in compensating the villages affected by the expansion which turned out to be the major cause for the delay in the construction.
Taking this into account, the committee held several meetings and site visits with all the concerned stakeholders in each of the affected villages to address the grievances of all individual land owners, they said.
They continued that MCORTA faced many challenges from different quarters but despite this, the committee's resoluteness has contributed in solving many problems that hampered smooth execution of the works.
"More recently, complaints from various parties involved in the construction work were resolved amicably through the intervention of the committee," they added.
