AMUCO, district units observe Players' Day

Imphal, February 25 2023:
Under the supervision of the All Manipur United Club's Organisation (AMUCO), "Players' Day/ Shannaroisingi Numit" at Kakwa, in Kakching and Bishnupur districts today.
Singjamei to Lilong United Club's Organisation (SLUCO) and Imphal West District United Club's Organisation (IWDUCO) observed the day which celebrates Manipur's historic achievement in the fifth National Games held from February 14-25, 1999 by emerging champions, at Kakwa Ereima Lairembi Lampak.
The programme was attended by K Santosh Luwang, organisation secretary of AMUCO as chief guest; S Tombi, SLUCO president; Kh Heramani Khaba, president IWDUCO; H Bilashini, president, Kakwa Ereima Ima Welfare Association among others as dignitaries.

Yubi Lakpi competition and Tug-of-War for married women also marked the observance, said SLUCO in a statement.
Meanwhile, Kakching District United Club's Organisation (KADUCO) observed the day with the final match of a district level Kang tournament between Maramba Kangkhut, Hiyanglam and Yaioibi Kangkhut Mayeng Lamjao.
The kang tournament started on February 15 last under the supervision of AMUCO.
An exhibition polo match was also held yesterday in connection with the Players' Day celebration where the Kakching District Polo Association beat Mayang Imphal Polo Club 5-3 .
The observance was graced by Th Chaoba, KADUCO president; Dr W Ibomcha, retd Veterinary Officer and others as presidium members.
The day was also observed at Kang Shanglen Ningthoukhong Awang Khunou by United Club's Organisation of Bishnupur District (UCOBID) under the aegis of AMUCO and in association with Meira Paibi Apunba Lup and Leimarol Lup.
An exhibition kang match was organised as a part of the observation programme which was attended by Dr Norendro Thokchom, organisation secretary, AMUCO; W Basanta, president UCOBID and others as presidium members.
Dr Norendro, while speaking at the occasion, also stressed on the importance of preserving and promoting indigenous games of the State.
A similar observation programme was also organised by All Thoubal District United Club's Organisation (ATDUCO) at Leishangthem Ima Lairembi Community Hall.
Indigenous games including Mukna, Thang-Ta and Tug-of-War were held as a part of the programme.
