Ukhrul, February 25 2023:
Despite being one of the oldest schools in Ukhrul district, K K Leishiphanit Jr High School in Kasomtang, is now reeling under the apathy of the State Government.
Speaking to media persons, School Management & Development Committee (SMDC) convener, Asher Raleng stated that the school which was established in 1952 is in need of immediate attention as normal classes for the students have been disrupted due to the shortage of classrooms.
Highlighting the lack of proper infrastructure and teachers in the school, he said, "Two rooms are in a very bad shape and have developed cracks as there are no RCC pillars & beams in the building" .

He also alleged that the sub-standard construction work has rendered the school building unsafe and may collapse any time.
According to him, there are more than 120 students enrolled in K K Leishiphanit, and students at present are adjusted in four classrooms while the staff room is accommodated at Girls hostel.
The school has no science teacher, no Grade-IV staff apart from inadequate infrastructure.
He also conveyed that the youth of Kasomtang along with the teachers of K K Leishiphanit renovated the school by painting the building to show their support and concern for the education of children.
Asher Raleng further urged the authorities concerned of the Education Department to inspect the school and see the ground situation to initiate necessary measures for the welfare of students in the area.
