U-14 cricket: Donba hits 229 as ESU pull off massive win; YWC beat KASC

Imphal, April 12 2023:
ESU and YWC prevailed against their opponents in contrasting styles in the MNCA U-14 Boys Tournament on Wednesday.
All-round ESU recorded a monumental 474-run win over LCC in their Group A encounter at PCC Ground, Mayaikoibi.
Electing to bat, ESU powered by Hanjabam Donba Sharma's unbeaten 229 off 111 balls and Soibam Venus's 128 off 56, coupled with contributions from Sandham Abhinash (46 not out) and Soibam Sayonba (38), piled up a massive 539/2 in their 30 overs.
Venus got dismissed by Lanleiba Sandham while Sayonba was caught off Raju Mutum's bowling.
In reply, LCC batting order collapsed like a pack of cards as they got wiped up in just 13.4 overs for a mere 65, with only Prithibash Laishram (13) scoring in double digits.
For ESU, Akoijam Sangba was the pick of the bowlers as he took four wickets in 2.4 overs while Thokchom Simesh, Soibam Sayonba, Nandeibam Salaingamba and Leushangthem Robinchandra got one wicket each to hand their team an incredible win.
Hanjabam Donba Sharma was awarded the man of the match title for his 229 (not out).
YWC, on the other hand, beat KASC by one wicket in a low-scoring match at PTRC Ground, Patsoi.
YWC bowled out KASC for 95 in 15.1 overs and then they chased down the target in 16.5 overs with a wicket to spare.
Daniel Seram led the TWC bowling attack with a haul of three wickets as Khoisnam Kelvinson took two and Yumnam Brightson, Seram Tondonsana and Yumnam Achouba bagged one each.
The Langthabal side then completed their chase in 16.5 overs courtesy of Daniel Seram (37), Poreinganba Sapam (10) and P Michael (8 not out) .
In the process, YWC lost three wickets each to Md Sakif Hussain and Md Ruhal, two to Mehetab and one to Mujamin.
Daniel Seam walked away with the man of the man trophy for his three wickets and 37 runs.
