Moidangpok sit-in protests liquor policy

Imphal, April 12 2023:
In continuation of the ongoing protest against the government's decision to legalise liquor in the state; Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) in collaboration with All Manipur Women's Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) and Moidangpok Aheibam Leikai Nupi Lup staged a sit-in protest at Moidangpok Moirangjel Hingol Aheibam Leikai community centre, Imphal West district on Wednesday afternoon.
During the sit-in, the protestors shouted slogans and held placards inscribed with slogans such as "What is hygienic liquor?", "No to sale and production of liquor", "Is legalised liquor safe for consumption? Will it prevent crime?", "Will legalisation truly help put an end to alcoholism when prohibition failed to do so?", "Is revenue more important than human life?", "Does the government have no other means of earning revenue other than from liquor?", "Is legalisation the right step amid the War on Drugs campaign?", "No legalisation of liquor in Manipur", "Withdraw cabinet's decision", and " Save the people of Manipur from liquor", a release by CADA Information & Publicity secretary L Brojen Angomcha conveyed.
