New born found abandoned

Imphal, April 12 2023:
A six/seven day old baby boy was found abandoned in the cradle of Manipur Mahila Kalyan Samiti (MMKS) Children Home, Dewlahland cradle point at 12.02 pm on April 10 .
A press release issued by Sushma Elangbam, Protection Officer, NIC, District Child Protection Unit, Imphal East has shared that the baby boy weighs around 3 kg and has a fair complexion.
A general diary entry regarding the matter was also recorded at Imphal Police Station, Imphal West on April 11 .
The statement further shared that the baby was handed over to the Specialised Adoption Agency (SAA-IE) by the DCPU-IE for immediate care and protection after producing it before the Child Welfare Committee, Imphal East, and completing the mandatory health checkup at JNIMS Pediatric Ward at 2.40 pm .
In view of the situation, the statement urged any person who can prove their true relationship with the baby to make their claim at the office of the Child Welfare Committee, Imphal East, located at Kongba Kshetri Leikai or the office of SAA-IE located at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal (South), Lane No 5B .
It added that claimant(s) should provide relevant documents as proof to support their identity and exact relationship with the baby within a period of 1 month from the date of issue of this press release in accordance with the new Adoption Regulations Act, 2022 .
