Moreh, April 12 2023:
Subsequent to announcement by the government prohibiting sale and use of plastic items below 120 micron and water bottles less than one litre capacity from March 31, Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) conducted a drive at Hill Drops Mineral Water Industries, which is manufacturing Laizon packaged drinking water at Moreh ward no.9 on Wednesday and seized several plastic items.
Officials of the Board led by its chairman Dr U Deben along with Moreh police team conducted the drive.
During the drive, 1000 bottles of 500 ml Laizon packaged drinking water along with numerous 500 ml Laizon empty bottles and preform bottle materials were seized.
It was found that the industry is being run without license from Manipur Pollution Control Board.
The seized plastic bottles were later handed over to Moreh police station.
Speaking in this regard, Dr Deben reminded all concerned about the government's order and expressed serious concern that the public as well as firms continue to defy the restrictions.
While maintaining that the drive will be sustained and prohibited plastic products seized, he also cautioned that suitable action will be taken up if anyone is found selling the restricted plastic items.
He further stated that actions will be taken up against Hill Drop Mineral Water Industries for not possessing license from Manipur Pollution Control Board.
