Training on organic farming held

Kamjong, April 12 2023:
Initiative for Sustainable Agriculture (ISA) today organised a 1-day training on organic farming at Ramrei village in Kamjong district.
The training programme was supported by Centre for Social Development (CSD) Imphal, said a release issued by ISA.
It was attended by 25 promising organic farmers of six villages namely Chadong, Ramrei, Riha, Thoyee, S Laho and Ngarumphung.
Babycha Mangsatabam, senior project manager CSD; Jiten Yumnam, secretary Center for Research & Advocacy, Manipur (CRAM) and Amana L Meghachandra, trainer of Bokashi and Vermicompost took part in the training as main speakers.
During the orientation session, Jajo Themson, president of ISA, expressed serious concern that finding sustainability in every respect is compelling for this generation.

He stated that among the various means, organic farming is one of the ultimate answers to sustainable agriculture in resilience to climate change.
Jiten Yumnam stressed on the need of organic farming as a key to healthy life, augmenting the environment and resilience to climate change.
"Organic farming is required for safe food production, improving livelihood and environment", said Jiten while elaborating on traditional ways of cultivation and importance of natural manure.
Later, demonstrative training on making of bio-fertilizers such as Bokashi and Vermi Compost model was conducted.
