NH-102 bandh, road blockade suspended

JAC Against the Non Repairing of Khangabok Bangshibudon to Kiyam Khongnang Taba Road has suspended the proposed bandh along National Highway 102 (Imphal-Moreh) scheduled to begin from April 12 .
In a release, the JAC informed that the decision to call off the bandh came after the representatives of the JAC met Deputy Commissioner A Subhash Singh today .
The DC met with the members of the JAC in the presence of SP Thoubal, Jogeshchandra Haobijam and other relevant officials of the district.
As per the direction of the DC, district officials and members of the JAC also went for a field visit to apprise the condition of the road.
Meanwhile, 32 village chiefs and various CSOs of Leilon & Leimakhong areas have unanimously decided to postpone the road blockade scheduled to begin from April 12 until further notification.
In a release, Leilong Area Land Protection Committee (LALPC) informed that the decision was taken during a meeting held on Tuesday at Hengjang.
It also mentioned that Superintendent of Police, Kakching had earlier appealed to the village chiefs to maintain peace and call off the road blockade.
"As a peace loving community, the decision to postpone the blockade was taken to abide by the directives received from the SP of KPI to restore peace and tranquility in the area", it added.
While lauding the noble initiative taken by the SP to restore peace in the area, LALPC reminded that it will not be a mute spectator until Konsakhul chairman D Adam clarify and apologize for all the allegations he made against the 21 villages.
