2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament : ESU climb Group B pole position with 4 wicket win over YUCC

Imphal, April 18 2023:
ESU-Wangkhei Palace Compound defeated YUCC-Kwakeithel Moirangpurel by 4 wickets in a top of the Group B table clash of the ongoing 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament.
With the win at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak, ESU went top with 10 points from as many as 6 matches while YUCC remain second with 8 points from four wins in 5 matches.
YUCC racked up 216 runs for 10 wickets after electing to bat first courtesy a half century from Ningthoujam Sanjit (63 off 55 ball) but ESU chased down the target in 37.4 overs with four wickets left to spare as M Bimananda struck an unbeaten 72 .

Ningthoujam Thoiba (34), W Lenin (33) and Ningthoujam Rohit (45) also gathered significant scores for YUCC in their innings which saw Chongtham Mehul Shreth (3/48), Chitaranjan Sharma (2/29) and Thokchom Nishikanta (2/34) enjoy bulk of wickets.
In reply, ESU hardly lost their momentum despite openers failing to stay longer as Sanatomba (41), Sanglakpam Rabikanta (27) set up the recovery path before M Bimananda took the honour to take ESU to winning 220 by hitting 9 fours and 1 six on the way to his unbeaten 61-ball 72 .
Ningthoujam Rahulkumar, Kadamjit Moirangthem and Shyam of YUCC fetched a wicket each in this innings.
Top scorer, M Bimananda was named man of the match.
Elsewhere at Khangabok Part III Cherapur Public Ground, TCMDC-Thongju beat RCA-Lilong by 2 runs for their fourth Group A victory in 6 matches.
RCA who opted to field first bundled out TCMDC for 174 runs in 33.5 overs through prolific bowling spells from Naesh Hussain (3/35), Syed Hussain (3/14) and Aziz Mirza (2/29) but their batting department failed to impress and slumped just three runs away from the win.
Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma scored the highest 52 off 64 balls for TCMDC while Sarangthem Priyobarta added second highest 19 runs.
In reply, Aziz Mirza (47) and Syed Hussain (44) shone with the bat but Suraj Kharibam broke the back of their line up by snaring four wickets to return with the best figures of 4/38 in 8 overs and set up the narrow win.
Thongam Tuljit of TCMDC also picked three wickets for 41 runs to hinder the chase as K Kalyan, H Babulu and L Vivekananda shared a wicket each.
Suraj Kharibam who produced a brilliant bowling performance was adjudged man of the match.
