Imphal, April 18 2023:
Demanding that the state government release the pending funds related to MGNREGA material component which had already been sanctioned by the central government, Manipur State Panchayat Parishad (MSPP) president Md Abdul Latif has cautioned of lodging complaint to central government including PMO office and authorities concerned if the funds are not released within April 25.Speaking to media persons at Panchayat Bhavan, Porompat on Tuesday, Abdul Latif informed that Ministry of Rural Development had sanctioned a sum of Rs 330,13,64,000 clearly mentioning that the material component fund for 2021-22 should be released.
A written memorandum was also submitted to RD and PR minister Y Khemchand demanding release of the pending fund within March 31 which the minister is yet to respond.
Recalling that a meeting of PRIs was held on April 4 and resolved to launch protest if the pending liabilities for material component were not released within April 10, he continued that another meeting was convened on April 12 with a reminder sent to CM N Biren and authority concerned for releasing the pending fund before the Panchayat election.
But no response has been given so far, he lamented.
Md Abdul Latif further said that an appointment was sought to meet the CM on April 11, but no such opportunity was given, subsequently forcing another meeting on Tuesday wherein various resolutions were adopted including release of the MGNREGA material component and to lodge complaint to the central authorities if the pending fund is not released within April 25, he revealed.
