AMGSU scans schools, decries shortage of teachers, infrastructure

Imphal, April 18 2023:
All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) Irang Part-II Unit visited 10 government and government-aided schools in Irang Part-II area of Kangpokpi district on Tuesday.
In a release, AMGSU informed that the team led by its vice president Kamal Karki and general secretary Narayan Adhikari found that all the schools have shortage of teachers, infrastructure, furniture, etc., with none of the schools having the mandated number of teachers.
The team encountered that Irang Part-II High School, Panikheti had five government teachers with 246 students; Rijaltahar Primary School one teacher with 12 students; Tim-sina Aided Government Primary School three teachers with 15 students; Thaldara Aided LP School two teachers for 45 students; Junior English School, Makui Ashang no government teacher compared to enrolment of 57 students and run by village level committee; UJB School, Naibet had eight teachers with 65 students; UJB English School, Thulochour three teachers with 46 students; Singarupa Government Aided Junior High School two teachers with 82 students; Gorkha Tapon English School had two government teachers with 112 students; and Government Primary School, Harup Khopi had one teacher with 31 students, it informed.
AMGSU further appealed to the state government to look into the matter seriously and do the needful at the earliest.
Moreover, the UJB English School, Thulochour was found in need of renovation at the earliest to facilitate conduct of regular classes, it emphasised.
