Gold medallist Wushu player felicitated

All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) and All Manipur Manpower Upliftment Centre (AMMUC) felicitated Wushu player Angom Bina Devi of Ningthoukhong Ward No 14, Bishnupur district, who won gold medals in the International Belt Wrestling, Wushu & Kungfu Championship 2022 held in Kathmandu, Nepal and International Wushu & Judo Championships 2023 held in Guwahati, Assam, in a function held at the office of AMUCO on Tuesday.
AMUCO president Ph Nando Luwang and AMMUC president T Dhyanchand attended the programme as chief guest and president respectively while Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president Longjam Memchoubi, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association president Y Kunjarani, MAKPAL president 0 Bilasini, MSF president Maibam Julius and AMMUC Bishnupur Branch vice-president W Rameshore were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Nando Luwang highlighted achievement of Manipuri women in the field of games and sports and how they played important role in safeguarding the sovereignty of the kingdom for thousands of years.
At the same time, the state is known for its rich art and culture apart from its sporting prowess, he said, while encouraging the people to continue their hard works and keep promoting the state in different fields.
Nando, however, expressed concern over the declining child birth ratio in the state and stressed on its negative impact in the society.
Terming it as a major drawback in the survival of the community, he called upon the people of the state to keep themselves healthy by involving in sports and exercises in order to bring about healthy generations.
Gifts, cash awards and citations were presented to Angom Bina by AMUCO and AMMUC presidents during the function.
Sharing her experience, Bina said that she gave her best in pursuing the career as a sportsperson despite having to earn livelihood for her family.
Hard work with determination is the key to her success, said the mother of three, and went on to encourage Manipuri women to pursue their respective career despite facing various challenges in life.
