MSCU ex-president accused of bribery

A former president of Manipur State Cooperative Union (MSCU) and his driver .have been accused of taking bribe money in recruitment of staff for the union.
Levelling the charges against the duo, Khoijing Dairy Farming Cooperative Society Limited secretary Lamkhothing Haokip informed that the then MSCU president had taken lakhs of rupees from three individuals from Churachandpur district on the promise of providing jobs at MSCU.
The said amounts were taken by the president after he brought the notification letter of the union calling for filling up 15 vacant posts.
Lamkhothing further informed that the president took an amount of Rs 5 lakh from one candidate from Churachandpur namely Sara Leineikim on December 15, 2019; Rs 10 lakh from one David Lung-dim in three instalments, Rs 5 lakh on December 13, 2019; Rs 4 lakh on May 15, 2022 and Rs 1 lakh on June 17, 2022 .
Some of the amounts were not directly handed over to the president but to his driver.
The driver also took an amount of Rs 4.20 lakh from one Lamkholhing Haokip on June 17, 2022, in the name of the president, who also the driver looted an amount of Rs 19.20 lakh from three people on the promise of providing jobs in the union, Lamkhothing Haokip said, while appealing to the authority concerned to look into the matter and take up befitting legal actions against the duo and also to declare null and void the DPC which was conducted through corruption.
He further informed that the corrupt person is again set to contest in the election for the post of president of the union which is very unfortunate.
