ATSUM to resume protest over RIMS from Apr 24

Irked with the alleged deliberate breach of the tripartite agreement by the RIMS authority, All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has resolved to resume its suspended agitation from April 24.It is worth mentioning that the apex body of the tribal students signed a tripartite agreement with the state government and the RIMS authority on April 3 in connection with reservation issues at RIMS, Imphal.
Addressing a press meet at ATSUM's office in Adimjati complex, Chingmeirong on Tuesday, Information & Publicity secretary Khaiminlen Doungel stated that in the wake of the RIMS authority' failure to materialise the agreed terms of the tripartite agreement signed on April 3, pertaining to cancelation of the RIMS notice dated 03-03-2023 for declaration of results for appointment to posts of LDC; fresh declaration of LDC appointment results with reservation as SC (3 percent), ST (34 percent) and OBC (13 percent) within one week time; and to follow existing rules and DoPT guidelines in matters of all recruitments to Group C and Group D posts, a joint meeting of ATSUM, subordinate bodies and federating units was held on April 17 to discuss the matter and seek further action plan.
Khaiminlen also stated that enraged with the deliberate breach of tripartite agreement by the RIMS authority, the meeting resolved to resume the suspended agitation from April 24 .
The students' body demanded befitting action against the erring RIMS authority, implementation of the agreed terms of Memorandum of Agreement signed on April 3.Further, while taking serious note of the alleged additional backdoor appointment of 15 posts of LDC in RIMS without proper reservation norms, ATSUM also demands the nullification of the said backdoor appointments, Khaiminlen said.
