Imphal, April 18 2023:
A 12-hour bandh will be imposed in all hill districts from 6 am of April 24, said All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) .
The decision to impose the bandh was taken after it earlier resolved to rescind the earlier stand to suspend the bandh.
ATSUM said that the bandh call has been revived as RIMS has failed to implement its earlier assurance to 'correct' the reservation norms for recruitment of LDCs (Lower Division Clerks) in Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) .
A tripartite agreement was signed with RIMS authority and the State Government on April 3 in this regard.
The tripartite agreement signed included 1) Cancellation of the RIMS notice dated 03-03-2023 for declaration of results for appoint- ment to posts of LDC .
ii) Fresh declaration of LDC appointment results with reservation--SC(3%), ST(34%) and OBC 13%) within one week time .
iii) to follow existing rules and DoPT guidelines in matters of all recruitment to Group C and Group D posts.
ATSUM said its subordinate bodies and federating units held a meeting yesterday and discussed the matter and it decided on further action plans.
"Irked by the deliberate breach of the tripartite agreement by the RIMS authority, the meeting resolved to resume suspended agitation from April 24, 2023, demanding befitting action against the erring RIMS authority and to implement the agreed terms," said ATSUM.
The student body also said it has taken serious note of the "backdoor appointment to 15 posts of LDC in RIMS without following proper reservation norms." It said RIMS authority should also "nullify the backdoor appointments" .
