19th MVCA Veteran Cricket : LCCC sink YCC by 85 runs to keep semi-final hopes alive

LCCC-Lilong Chajing handed YCC-Wangkhei fourth defeat in the 19th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament Group B competition with an 85-run thrashing today for their second win in three matches at Luker ground.
The win helped LCCC keep their semi-final hopes alive with a match left to play against CYCLONE who have won three of three matches so far.
LCCC won the toss and elected to bat first today.
They racked up a competitive total of 203 runs for 7 in allotted 30 overs and restricted YCC to 118 for 9 in 27.4 overs for the second victory.
S Rakesh blazed off 53 runs off 55 balls for LCCC before N Sanjit smacked 55 off just 36 runs to help LCCC cross the 200 run mark today.
L Krishna also added a significant total off 44 runs off 32 balls today in LCCC's innings which saw A Rakesh of YCC claim two wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs and Y Robinchandra, S Shantikumar and L Everest pick up a wicket apiece.
In reply, S Shantikumar (26), N Helendro (22) and K Swami (22) gave YCC some early hope but the team faltered after their departure and eventually slumped to 118 runs for 9 as Akbar of LCCC snared three wickets for 7 runs in his spell of 5 overs and S Rakesh added teeth by claiming 2 wickets for 16 runs in 4.5 overs.
Ashok and S Nandakumar also chipped in with a wicket apiece.
S Rakesh who produced an all-round performance was adjudged man of the match.
Another semi-final contenders YPHU will play NAPSA in a crucial Group B match tomorrow.
