Murder of taxi driver : Wife of arrested accused held

A second suspect in the murder case of Yanglem Priyobarta identified as Heisnam Sandyarani has surrendered to the police and she has been remanded to police custody till January 16.Notably, Heisnam Sandyarani is wife of Heisnam James, who was arrested by the police yesterday as the main accused.
The husband, H James was also remanded to police custody till January 16 by the Duty Magistrate Bishnupur in the case.
H James hails from Lamboikhongnangkhong.
It may be mentioned that Yanglem Priyobarta (46) a resident of Nachou Awang Leikai Ward No 2 was found dead at Phesama village in Nagaland on January 7.Yanglem Priyobarta was an Eeco Van driver and he went missing on December 30.When the Eeco Van ply Imphal-Moreh usually, Yanglem Priyobarta had called his daughter, on phone, informing that he was headed to Dimapur on December 30.According to police, investigation revealed that the accused, H James had contacted the victim on phone to go on a trip to Dimapur on December 30 at around 9.30 pm.
As they proceeded towards Mao on the Eeco Van, H James allegedly stabbed the victim (Priyobarta) several times to death and left the body somewhere between Mao and Veswama.
The body was found lying inside a culvert at Phesama village and was brought to RIMS Hospital for postmortem.
Further investigation also revealed that H James had mortgaged the Eeco Van of the victim to one Yumnam Ibomcha of Heinoubok.
While H James allegedly disclosed to the police about the involvement of his wife, Heisnam Sandyarani in the commission of the crime, she surrendered at the Senapati women police station today.
She was then arrested by the Bishnupur police and produced before the Duty Magistrate today.
In the Court of the Duty Magistrate today, the Investigating Officer submitted that she had allegedly conspired with her husband in committing the murder.
She also allegedly helped her husband in concealing and disposing of the body.
The Duty Magistrate on perusal of the submissions and case records, remanded Heisnam Sandyarani to 8 days police custody till January 16 .
