Imphal, January 09 2023:
Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) has called upon the people of all indigenous communities in the state to give up the idea of community-centric approaches and strive for a common goal to bring about a united and strong Manipur.
Speaking during the oath taking ceremony of new office bearers of CCSK held at its sub-head office, Wangkhei, here, on Monday, CCSK president Jeetendra Ningomba observed that though Manipur is a vibrant state and home of over 30 indigenous communities, several CSOs are working on community-centric approaches thinking only of their respective communities without any common goals or aspirations for the state.
Such approach is ominous for the state as a whole and collective identity and future of all the indigenous communities, who are interdependent on one another.
Unlike such organisations, CCSK has been working towards a common goal and aspiration, he said and assured of continuing to walk on the path.
Manipur University associate professor Dr Thiyam Bharat, who attended the programme as chief guest, also aired the same concern and stressed the need for collective efforts to strengthen the state's unity and identity.
The general population should also support such efforts with a common goal, he said while appreciating CSOs like CCSK for their contribution towards bringing unity among the indigenous communities.
CCSK advisor Ashangbam Jiten, who presided over the function, spoke on the works and initiatives taken up by CCSK since its inception.
Jeetendra Ningomba and Thiyam Saratchandra were re-nominated as president and vice-president of the organisation for the term 2023-25 while Laishram Shyam Khuman, Lamabam Premila and Akasfi Maibam among others were nominated to different posts.
