Month long Nupi Lal observance concludes

The month-long observance of Nupi Lal, 2022 organised by Emoinu Cultural Organisation (ECO) concluded on Monday along with the valedictory function held at Leimayol Arts Centre, Singjamei Chingamakha, where RD & PR minister Y Khemchand attended as chief guest.
The closing function of the observance was also attended by ECO president S Shyama, retired ZEO Khumbongmayum Kunjabihari, former IMC corporators Th Bankim and Th Eliza, Manipur State Shumang Leela Council president Maibam Purnimashi, Leimayol Arts Centre president S Tomba and Model Club, Singjamei president H Indebor Singh as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, minister Khemchand highlighted that the courage of Manipuri women was shown during the Nupi Lal fought against the British and this shows that women of the land have been shouldering their responsibility in economy and administration.
In his speech, H Indebor Singh recalled how Nupi Lal broke out first in 1904 against the order of the political agent of British India and again in 1939 against artificial rice scarcity in Manipur.
