6th Brojendro Theatre Festival from Jan 18

The 6th edition of the triennial Khundongbam Brojendro Theatre Festival organised by Khundongbam Brojendro Cultural Trust in honour of the late playwright will be held from January 18 to 23 at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy auditorium, here.
Informing this during a press meet held at Hot Pot Restaurant, Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi here on Monday, chairman of Khundongbam Brojendro Theatre Festival Committee RK Nimai said that six theatre groups including one from Assam will be participating in the festival, during which many theatre groups will present plays written by the renowned playwright.
As part of the festival, performances of Pena, Moirangsai, Maring War Dance, Wari Faibok, Moirang Parva and Lang den Cholom will be showcased every day followed by festival plays at 4 pm.
One renowned writer of the state will also be honoured on daily basis during the festival, he said while urging the public to visit the festival.
Rupmahal Theatre's 'Ichasa Ipa Lamboirage' directed by L Brajamohon will open the festival.
Yumjao Lairembi Dramatic and Cultural Union's 'Hingminnabei Mahut Siminnaba' directed by L Shyamkishore will be showcased on January 19; Manipur Dramatic Union's 'Ikai Khangda Maithaba' directed by L Kholchandra on January 20; Kakching Dramatic Union's 'Eikhoi Pabung Peng Choire' directed by M Naran on January 21; Manipur University of Culture, department of theatre and performance studies' 'Ho Ima Eibu Kari Matouno' directed by Toijam Sila on January 22; and Rongduli Sanskritik Kendra, Assam's 'Refugee' directed by Gunomani Baruah on January 23, he informed.
