KIVC: Manipur rack up six gold on Day 12; emerge joint winners in girls' fencing; medal haul swells to 33

Manipur on Friday enjoyed a productive day by racking six gold medals while the girls' fencing team emerged joint winners on Day 12 of the 5th Khelo India Youth Games.
Following the Friday's results, Manipur moved up seven places to be at seventh in the medal table.
Five of the state's six gold medals came via Thang-Ta competition as M Martina Devi lifted her way to gold medal in weightlifting.
M Martina pulled off a total lift of 199kg in the women's +81kg category to secure her yellow metal.
K Oviya (174kg total) of Tamil Nadu and Abhi-shiktha Kaduluri (165kg) of Odisha completed the podium.
Manipur shone brightest in Thang-Ta by winning five gold medals and one each of silver and bronze on Friday.
Leitanthem Oni Singh (boys phunaba ama -56kg), Century Heisnam (boys phunaba anishuba 60kg), Athokpam Kemi Devi (girls phunaba ama 52kg), Yumnam Dayarani Devi (girls phunaba anishuba 56kg) and Kolom Merina Devi (girls phunaba anishuba 56kg) earned top podium honours.
Meanwhile, Manipur emerged joint winners alongside Maharashtra in girls' fencing.
The state girls bagged two gold, one silver and two bronze medals over the course of their competition to earn the championship title.
Manipur's medal haul swelled to 33 on the 12th day of the Games to jump to seventh spot in the medal table.
The state athletes have so far collected 12 gold, nine silver and 12 bronze medals.
Maharashtra remain leaders in medal tally with 53 gold, 54 silver and 47 bronze, followed by Haryana (gold 40, silver 27, 49 bronze), Madhya Pradesh (37 gold, 27 silver, 26 bronze), Rajasthan (17 gold, 10 silver, 17 bronze), Kerala (14 gold, 12 silver, 19 bronze) and Delhi (13 gold, 20 silver, 22 bronze) .
