SW director stresses need for producing books on financial literacy

The Patriotic Writers' Forum (PAWF) celebrated its 15th foundation day at Manipur Press Club, here, on Friday with offering of floral tributes to the photos of departed members of the forum.
Speaking as chief guest of the event.
Social Welfare director Ngangom Uttam stressed the need to bring out books on financial literacy in such a way that the book can be easily understood by the youth and upcoming generation and further help improve economic condition of the state.
Contrary to the earlier belief that those who do not hesitate in fighting battles are the nationalists, the present generation have the notion that those who are extremely rich and can generously donate, huge amount of money in charity are the real nationalists and their love for the motherland unparalleled, noted the director while expressing concern that the present generation is totally ignoring the role played by the writers in building up the spirit of nationalism.
Pointing out the need to improve the economy to realise the goal for a progressive society, Uttam also called upon the PAWF members to endeavour for producing dramas, plays and films based on the theme of economic stability to improve the financial literacy of the people in the state.
Due to lack of financial literacy, Manipur is still economically underdeveloped overall despite presence of many successful entrepreneurs and businessmen in the state, he said.
A book entitled 'Naheironda Tairen Pungphai' written by Naoroibam Khamba Luwang was also released on the occasion in addition to felicitating awardees.
Presided over by PAWF president Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, the function was also attended by Biramangol College assistant professor Dr Laishram Landhoni and PAWF patron member Wahengbam Hem-abati as guests of honour.
