Imphal, February 10 2023:
Social Welfare Director Ngangom Uttam has attributed the delayed development of Manipur to the lack of financial literacy among the people.
The Director made the statement during the 15th foundation day celebration of the Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF), Manipur held at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul today.
Notably, Naoroibam Khamba Luwang's book entitled "Naheironda Tairen Pungphai" was also released during the 15th foundation day observance.
Speaking as the chief guest, Ngangom Uttam pointed out that the State can boast of a large number of people who have made stellar achievements in the field of art and culture and sports, however, the same cannot be said for successful people in the realm of finance.

Maintaining that financial independence is a must in order to participate in the race for development, he urged people to produce more films and books that shed light on financial literacy.
He further opined that if the people do not become financially literate under India's Act East Policy, then all big businesses under the policy will be snatched by people from outside the State while Manipuri citizens will be left with the meagre earnings received from renting their spaces as godowns etc.
This policy will not bring any significant changes if the people continue to remain financially illiterate, he maintained.
Dignitaries present at the event include Naoroibam Khamba Luwang, president, PAWF; Dr Laishram Landhoni Devi, Assistant Professor, Biramangol College and Wahengbam Hemabati Devi, patron member, PAWF as the presidium members.
As a part of the function, a floral tribute was offered to honour the deceased members of PAWF.
