Imphal, February 01 2015:
Women Action for Development (WAD) has strongly condemned the detention of Tengnoupal villagers by the Assam Rifles posted along Imphal-Moreh road, according to a statement issued by the secretary of WAD.
Terming the act as human rights violation, the statement said such action of racial discrimination cannot be tolerated by the people of the State.
WAD alleged that Assam Rifles personnel posted along Imphal-Moreh road have failed to respect the right of the indigenous people.
Instead of protecting and safeguarding the citizens against injustices, people have been subjected to assault, torture and discrimination.
