Big wins for SSB, ARC, SEYO; KhSC edge past AMHA

Imphal, February 01 2015: Khongman Students' Club (KhSC), SSB Lucknow, SEYO and ARC Shillong emerged victorious in today's matches of the inaugural Wahengbam Thoibi Devi Challenge Hockey Trophy being played at Khjuman Lampak Hockey Stadium.

In the first match played this morning SSB brushed aside the challenge from PHAM, Yaiskul with a margin of 14-3.The Lucknow team converted both penalty corners that it earned in the match.

Their rivals managed to get one penalty corner but wasted the opportunity.

The winners rode on four goals from Vishal Sharma and three goals each from Gunamani and Pradip Kumar while H Surchandra, V Chowdhury and L Jaychandra shared the remaining three goals.

On the other hand PHAM reduced the margin with a couple from K Debeshwar and another from H Jayanta.

In the second match SEYO, Singjamei blanked Lizard Library, Wangkhei by seven goals to nil though the team eight penalty corners, compared to four by their opponents The scorers for SEYO were Sh Sumeshkanta (three), and Y Sanjay, A Sanjoy, S Ronesh and Ssh Umashankar (one each) .

However, ARC got the distinction of winning with the biggest margin with a thumping 20-0 scoreline in the match agains MEIRA, Bashikhong.ARC opened the account in the third minute through Chinmoibaro in the third minute.

L Heramani contributed three goals in the 4th, 38th and 45th minutes while M Amarjit sounded the board twice in the 10th and 35th minutes.

M Premchand scored a brace, in the 14th and 19th minutes.

M Sasikumar scored in the 17th, 23th, 55th and 56th.The last match of the day between KHSC and All Moirang Hockey Association was a keenly contested affair in which the former emerged victorious by three goals to two.
