Living museum to be set up at Pari-Puri Pukkei Eco-Tourism Centre

Ng Kangjiya Mangang, president of Pari-Puri Pukkei while inaugurating the Kite Festival 2015 at Pari-Puri Pukkei Eco-Tourism Centre, Telou in Imphal East on Sunday announced that a plan has been chalked out to establish a living museum of classic house designs belonging to 42 different communities of the State at Pari-Puri Pukkei Eco Tourism Centre.
The Kite Festival 2015 is being organized jointly by Pari-Puri Eco Tourism Centre and Manipur Kite Club.
Attending as presidium member, Kangjiya Mangang asserted that such a museum would provide visitors with an experimental interpretation of the indigenous house designs belonging to 42 different communities of the State.

He maintained that the museum is to be set up with the firm goal to make Pari-Puri Pukkei as a heritage site.
The house designs will be constructed after consulting experts from different communities, he said.
Informing that the traditional Meetei Yumjao with nine rooms for Meetei community will be constructed at the museum, Kangjiya said that the nine rooms will be affixed with separate names including Lainingthou Sana Ka, Chara Chaum Ka, Nene Yahing Ka etc.
Informing that a proposal has been submitted to the Central Government seeking financial assistance for construction of the museum, Kangjiya exuded confidence that the Centre is most likley to consider the plan.
L Ingocha, chairman of organizing committee of the festival said that flying kite has been practiced in the State since time immemorial and called upon the people of different communities to take part in the ongoing festival to spread the message of love and peace.
Several personalities including Sweeten Raihing, president of Tangkhul Rungnaolong; LS Guite, social worker; Suren Maibam, secretary of AMESCO and M Ibotombi, secretary of Pari-Puri Pukkei Eco Tourism Centre were seated on the dais at the occasion.
Cultural dances of different communities were showcased to mark the occasion.
