CCpur cops rescue Slow Loris

In an encouraging event, a police team of Churachanpur Police Station rescued a Bengal Slow Loris from Khumujamba Meitei Leikai, Churachanpur today.
Following a tip off to the PFA that a Bengal slow Loris was kept in captivity for slaughter, PFA informed Police Inspector M.A Salam who immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the poor animal, said a release from L.Biswajeet Meitei, Managing Trustee, People for Animals Thoubal.
Bengal Slow Loris comes under schedule 1 of Wildlife Protection Act which means that the animal is highly threatened and its number is dwindling, the release added.
Saying that Inspector Salam had earlier rescued numerous of Grey headed parakeets (parrots) some months back, the PFA in its release saluted the police officer and his team for their contribution to the welfare of wildlife.
