MPTC, MPP ready to field candidates in Hiyanglam by-poll

Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) announced on Saturday that it will field candidate for the upcoming by-election to Hiyanglam constituency in Thoubal dist.
The decision has come after a meeting of the MPTC office bearers held yesterday, MPTC president Th Shyamkumar told newsmen at the party office here.
As of now, the party has selected no one as its candidate for the by-election, he said, informing that the name of the candidate will be announced only after the poll notification is issued.
The Hiyanglam A/C seat has been left vacant after MPTC sitting MLA Maibam Kunjo passed away.
Commenting on the law and order situation in Manipur in the wake of the national and state highways blockade call given by United Naga Council, Shyamkumar assured that his party will prevail upon the Centre to ensure normalcy in the state.
As to Inner Line Permit issue, the Andro MLA said All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) supremo Mamata Banerjee will be urged to put pressure on the Centre to implement ILP system in Manipur.
Meanwhile, Manipur People's Party (MPP) has also announced its decision to put up party candidate for the Hiyanglam by-election.
MPP president N Sovakiran said the party has already chosen Mayengbam Amutombi as its candidate for the by-election, but added that now the name cannot be announced formally since the poll notification is yet to issue.
