Kashimpur-Leishabithol road blockade: 2 vehicles damaged, 3 students hurt

Jiribam, September 06 2014 :
At least 2 vehicles belonging to Coastal Construction Company of Railway Line were dismantled at Kashimpur Bazar during the blockade of Kashimpur to Leishabithol road in Jiribam around 11.30 am today.
Agitators who enforced the blockade damaged the two escorted vehicles of Railway Construction Company while trying to pass through Leishabithol and heading towards Kashimpur Bazar.
The registration nos.of the dismantled Bolero and DI Turbo are MN 06L � 4590 and MN 05A � 2974 respectively.
Three students were also reportedly injured when the personnel of 5th MR who were providing security to the railway construction company office opened blank-firing to control the agitation.
The three students who were injured during the mayhem have been identified as Piyarul Haque (13) s/o Farij-uddin of Kashimpur; Bahrul Islam (13) s/o Jafrul uddin of Ahmadabad and Rahmana Begum (10) D/o Anam uddin of Ahmadabad.
They were later rushed to the Community Health Centre Jiribam for treatment.
It may be recalled here that the decision to impose road blockade was taken after repeated appeals to the concerned authorities for the renovation of the miserable condition of the road was not heeded.
Dissatisfied over the government's indifference towards the demands of the people, the people of Jiribam launched the road blockade from the midnight of Sept.

Meanwhile, All Manipur Students' Union, District Committee Jiribam; All Jiribam Bengali Students Union (AJBSU) and Muslim Students Organision, (MSO), Manipur Unit strongly supported the ongoing agitation of the local students of Leishabithol to Kashimpur.
