Lamka town shows the way in keeping public places clean

To keep the town not just clean but also hygienic, Lamka town in Churachandpur district has installed over 30 spitting boxes called 'Chil Bawm' in local dialect at important points along Tiddim road and other public places of the town.
During the installation programme held under the initiative of CT Lian Convenience Store and media persons particularly the Churachandpur Reporters Association (CRA) today, PK.
Jha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur district, who attended the event as chief guest, quoted the saying 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness', and assured that the next time around the district administration will collaborate with the organisers to work for the betterment of Lamka town.
CEO of ADC Churachandpur Mrs.Manmuanching who also was present on the occasion, expressed optimism that through these efforts, spitting in public place will be minimised.
The function was also attended by chief of Lamka town Thangkhosuanmung Guite and leaders of student unions like ZYA, ZSF and YPA.
Funds for the project were raised during a charity event held at the CCpur college Campus where a local film called 'Heina Peuh Ah' was released by Singat MLA GS.

Apart from the financial aid from the MLA, ADC Chairman Langkhanpau Guite and EM of ADCC Kamsuanlun, the profits from the sale of the CDs were utilised for the project.
CT Lian, the co-ordinator of the project and Chairman of CRA Biak Tonsing told the gathering that they raised the fund through the sale of the Film Disc and spent almost lakhs for the installation of the spitting boxes.
