Maibam Chandrabir son of late M Kunjo has served a legal notice on MLA Shyamkumar demanding compensation of Rs two crore for untimely demise of his father the then sitting MLA Maibam Kunjo due to Shyamkumar's alleged tortuous acts and defamatory statements.
According to the legal notice, M Kunjo was an active member MLA of the AITC having undying loyalty and allegiance to the party but he was slapped by a suspension order from Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee (MPTCC) of which Th Shyamkumar is the president.
Kunjo never enrolled himself as a member of the MPTCC, a party flouted by Shyamkumar even though he enrolled as an active member of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress and remained as an MLA of the Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress till his death, said his son.
Late M Kunjo was quite shocked on learning the said news of defamatory statements from newspapers published on June 15 this year.
Kunjo felt humiliated and suffered mental agony.
He was so shocked and depressed which led to his death and it was caused by the wrongful and defamatory statements/actions of Shyamkumar, said the legal notice.
Kunjo was hospitalized and he was even taken outside the State for medical treatment incurring a huge amount of money.
In the meantime, Shyamkumar in the capacity of MPTCC president applied to the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker for disqualification of Kunjo from being a Member of the Xth Manipur Legislative Assembly.
This particular news was also very humiliating to Kunjo as he felt his name was tarnished and his good reputation was lost because of that ill motivated action of Shyamkumar.
Even though the suspension order of Kunjo was revoked on August 9 and the petition filed to the Assembly Speaker for his disqualification was withdrawn, it only inflicted more pain and humiliation and as a result he who could not bear Shyamkumar's wrongful actions anymore died subsequently on August 11 .
For such wrongful suspension order, disqualification petition and revocation order passed by Shyamkumar which allegedly humiliated and ultimately led to Kunjo's demise, his son Maibam Chandrabir through Advocate M Manglem served the legal notice demanding Rs two crore in compensation.
