Amidst ongoing indefinite bandh called by United Naga Council (UNC) along the National and State highways in Naga inhabited from September 4, around 400 trucks including four bullet tankers left Imphal today under tight security escort along Imphal-Jiribam highway (NH-37) for lifting essential goods.

Just after reaching Barak Bridge area, bandh supporters attacked the convoy with big stones and boulders rolled down from atop the hill cliffs and damaged a truck bearing registration no MN05C-1965 .
However, rest of the trucks managed to pass the area without any casualty.
Many of the trucks have already reached Jiribam at around 10 pm and remaining are expected to reach there in the morning tomorrow.
All the trucks will be heading for Imphal with security escort after loading essential items from Jiribam on September 8, the sources added.
Meanwhile, a total of 67 good laden trucks have been stranded at Golarthal and Leingangtabi near Jiribam unable to proceed due to the bandh.
