BJP Chandel district has called on the State Government to pay immediate attention to the humanitarian needs of the people of Sulam area in general and the Challong villagers who have been under threat of a mass landslide that cut the Tengnoupal New Samtal Road to 28 km.
Vice President of BJP Chandel district, Ts Konal Anal while briefing mediapersons during the visit to the landslide affected village Challong and rest of the villages including Vomku and Larong khullen yesterday demanded that the Primary Health Sub-centre located at Larong Khullen which is already completed must be made functional in order to cater the needs of health care services it ought to provide.
He regret to say that no nurses other than the ASHA of the village was present there at the time of the visit.
Vice president also distributed medicines to the ASHA of Larong khullen.
Secretary of Challong Village Authority, LV Marson, informed that the landslide that occurred way back in 2009 had now posed great danger to the lives of village.
Maintaining that Challong village lied just above the place where the landslide had occurred, he informed of a new site identified by the villagers for shifting the village.
He therefore appealed the State Government for assistance.
Chief of Larong Khullen Village Ts Kanlun while briefing mediapersons demanded for revoking the order of education department wherein a local teacher who is the resident of Larong Khullen was transferred from the Larong Government High School.
He further stated that Larong Government High school which was upgraded from Jr High school in 2011 has only 8 teachers against the sanctioned strength of 28.In connection with the transfer of a local teacher, the chief warned of democratic agitation in case positive response is not assured by the department concerned.
The Chief also demanded for regular function of the PHSC at Larong khullen in order to lessen the difficulty of carrying sick person to District Hospital which is 25-26 km away from the village.
