After the Election Commission of India has decided to hold the 16th Lok Sabha election in two phases in Manipur, it is reported that the first phase may be held before Cheiraoba festival and the second phase after the festival.
On the other hand, the ECI is expected to announce sche-dule of the Lok Sabha election in the next couple of days.
The ECI has completed collection of necessary information from all the States for official announcement of election schedule, informed a source.
As a rule, the election mo-del code of conduct would come into effect once the ECI announces election schedule.
Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency may go to polls before April 14 (Chei-raoba) and Inner Manipur P/C after the festival.
The total number of electors of the State is 17,39,005 and they would cast their votes in 2662 polling stations.
For the two-phased Lok Sabha election, office of the State CEO has already recommended the ECI to provide 75 companies of central paramilitary forces.
Notably BJP, CPI ad Trinamool Congress have named their candidates for the Lok Sabha election.
