Dr Kishan, Token and Rajen case : Protest staged in front of CBI office

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Dr.Kishan, Token and Rajen by NSCN-IM functionary held a protest in front of CBI office, Imphal and finally served a memorandum to the director of Central Bureau of Investigation regarding the gruesome murder case no CC36/10 CBI against the accused NSCN-IM functionary Hopeson Ningshen and others.
Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Dr Kishan and the two staff abducted by NSCN (IM) cadres were found murdered near Taphou village along National Highway-2 (Imphal-Dimapur road) on February 17, 2009 .
Today, the demands endorsed in the memorandum includes prevailing upon the prosecution to contest any further adjournment of the case and deferment of the judgment, to utilize the best approach to apprehend the co-accused in the case who are presently declared as absconders and lastly, to initiate a fresh look into the case as there is apprehension that every person responsible for the gruesome murder have not been brought in the ambient of the law.
The JAC lamented that the final verdict of the case was initially fixed for January 18, 2014 which was adjourned by the court without any order as the judge was said to be on tour.
The date of pronouncement of the verdict was accordingly deferred to January 28, 2014 which was adjourned again saying the preparations were still incomplete.
Again, it was fixed for February 15, 2014 which was again postponed to March 5, 2014 .
The JAC then expressed that the present case may be one amongst the thousands being presently investigated by the CBI, but for the victims' family and the general populace of the state, it is the most gruesome case of pre-planned murder.
The murder which was carried out after abducting the three government employees on duty and then inhumanly torturing them for days and finally killing them by smashing their heads and faces by spades and stones.
Further, the dead bodies were dumped in a river side in an area inhabited by different ethnic tribes.
The JAC alleged that the brutal murder was a selected community killing in order to flare up a communal riot.
Hence, the JAC pledged for the severity of punishment to be delivered matched to the cruelty of the offence and that no culprits dare to commit such crimes again in the future.
The JAC maintained that due to repeated adjournment and deferment of the pronoucement of the verdict a deep anguish and intense restive mood have set in the victims' family members.
