Imphal, February 28 2014 :
Chief Minister O Ibobi has categorically stated that the Government lacks capacity to give Government jobs to all gold medallists of national level sports championships.
Replying to a query put up by MLA Dr I Ibohalbi during Zero Hour in the State Assembly today, Ibobi stated that there are more than 120 gold medallists of national level sports championships in the State.
There are cases of promotion for State athletes/players who won gold medal in international sports meets but there is no promotion policy for gold medal winners of national level competitions.
International footballer O Bembem has been promoted to the post of Head Constable, Ibobi stated.
Replying to a question raised by MLA Th Joykishan, the Chief Minister stated there is a need to verify the claim that construction of Anganwadi centres in five/six districts has been fully completed.
This should be done in a joint meeting with relevant officials, DCs, DRDA officials and project officers.
Although construction of Anganwadi centres is now in phase IV, those constructed during phase I to III are still doubtful.
Bills were released for the purportedly completed centres after local MLAs gave their signatures in the form of verification.
In order to fix responsibility, there should be power- point presentation of each constructed Anganwadi centre, Ibobi asserted.
To a query put up by MLA P Brojen, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Gaikhangam clarified that the instruction to MLAs elected from the valley should seek security permission while going to their home constituencies still stands.
The instruction to seek se-curity permission was circula- ted taking serious note of particular incident where some unidentified persons snatched weapons from security escorts of a particular MLA, Gaikhangam added.
He appealed to all Members to seek additional escorts while on tour outside Imphal Municipal area.
