Renting out Bhavan rooms: There was no agreement, but State ignores it

Although the Government of Manipur knew about the installation of a power transformer at one of the rooms of Chanakyapuri Manipur Bhavan since 2011 and there was no written agreement in this regard, it has not done anything till date.
This was what could be make out from General Administrative Department (GAD) Minister Phungzathang Tonsing's reply in the State Assembly today when he said that the State Government would look into the development works of Manipur Bhavans in New Delhi.
Based on Hueiyen Lanpao's exclusive report on some rooms of Manipur Bhavan located at Chanakyapuri in New Delhi being rented out to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for housing a 33 Kilovolt power transformer, MLA Laisom Ibomcha raised a calling attention motion during the fifth sitting of 7th Session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly today and questioned the GAD Minister if the matter was known to the State Government or not.

The MLA also highlighted poor management and catering service at the Bhavan.
Responding to the calling attention motion, Minister Phungzathang said that the State Government has learned about the installation of a power transformer at one of the rooms of Chanakyapuri Manipur Bhavan since 2011.There is no written agreement for installation of power transformer inside the Bhavan premises.
The State Government would soon look into this matter, he noted.
He also assured of improving the catering service of Manipur Bhavan in consultation with hospitality experts of Hotel Classic and others besides improvement in overall management of the Bhavan.
