Tangkhul film in Canada Fest

Kungyee, an ethnographic Tangkhul film, has been selected for Festival international du film ethnographique du Qu�bec (FIFEQ), Canada and scheduled to get screening at University of Laval and University of Montreal in March.
After a successful screening at Aperture festival at Melbourne, Australia on November 22 last year, the 28-minute length documentary film on Tangkhul culture produced by Pamreiso Shimray and directed by Chaoba Thiyam, has been selected for International Ethnographic Film Festival of Quebec (FIFEQ) at Canada.
In an official communication on February 22, FIFEQ submission coordinator Marion Provencher informed that the film will be screened at the University of Laval on March 15 and the University of Montreal on March 19 .
In spite of the invitation from the organisers of the FIFEQ 2014, neither the director nor the producer will be able to attend the festival, Pamreisho Shimray informed.
However, a brief presentation on the film (in text) will be read on the day of the festival.
Kungyee, an ethnographic film on the dying rituals of rain invocation among the Tangkhul Nagas �particularly after the sowing of seeds at jhum fields, was premiered at Aperture Festival at Melbourne, Australia from November 21 to 23 last year.
The Tangkhul's first to get world premiere film, is set in Ningthi village under Kamjong Sub-division, Ukhrul district, Manipur.
Kungyee, produced with the support of Tribal Research Institute Manipur, was officially premiered at "a film Fest on Tangkhul Culture" on June 1 in 2013 at NEC state of the art auditorium, Shillong.
